STUDENTS LAUNCH THAT BUSINESS SCHOOL HOSPITALITY AND TOURISM (H&T) CLUB

On Thursday, September 28th, The Business School Hospitality and Tourism (H&T) Club held its first-ever meetup. The H&T Club was founded by a pair of enterprising and enthusiastic third-year degree students - Kaitlyn H. and Chris A. - in the Bachelor of Commerce - Hospitality and Tourism Management program.
The event was a mix and mingle affair attended by 25 business students. Refreshments were served, and the students enjoyed meeting some like-minded people and learning more about the club. A competition was also held to come up with a name for the club. The prize for the person who comes up with the winning name will be a “dinner for two” at the Humber Room.
During the meeting, Chris and Kaitlyn along with Program Coordinator, Ramesh Srinivasan spoke to those in attendance about the club’s mandate, which is to:
- Provide a forum for all students in the Hospitality and Tourism Management degree program to network with hospitality and tourism industry leaders and professionals
- Develop a calendar of events that would take place each semester at Humber and in the GTA to profile the degree program and its students
- Plan site visits to hotels and attractions in the GTA, wineries in the Niagara region, industry-related shows such as the Gourmet Food and Wine Expo (Nov. 2017) and the Restaurants Canada Show (Feb 2018)
- Engage with the employers and stakeholders in the hospitality and tourism industry to learn about best practices and new developments in the industry
The club leaders plan to organize a meeting every month each semester. They also fully expect attendance to increase as word of mouth about the club spreads.
Congratulations to the H&T Club on its first meeting. We're looking foward to hearing about its activities as the school year progresses.
