FACULTY REPRESENTS THE BUSINESS SCHOOL AT FIRST INDIGENOUS FASHION WEEK TORONTO

June 18, 2018

Fashion Program Coordinator and Professor, Jennifer Dawson and Business School Dean Alvina Cassiani both represented Humber at the first-ever Indigenous Fashion Week Toronto (IFWTO).

The IFWTO was held from May 31 – June 3, 2018. The event aims to present the most distinct and progressive Indigenous artists working in fashion, textiles, and craft. And, according to the IFWTO website, they are "committed to exploring the deep connections between mainstream fashion, Indigenous art and traditional practice through presentation for broad audiences and industries. With amplified visibility of and led by Indigenous women, IFWTO is bold, inclusive and accessible."

Also present at the opening reception event, was the Honourable Elizabeth Dowdeswell Lieutenant Governor of Ontario. The Business School was honoured to sponsor the Indigenous Fashion, Craft and Textiles Runways Showcase.

Congratulations to the IFWTO. We can't wait to attend next year!
