INTERNATIONAL DEVELOPMENT DELEGATES BROUGHT TOGETHER FOR GLOBAL CITIZENSHIP FORUM

The International Development Program at Humber's Business School hosted the Annual Global Citizenship Forum of the Ontario Council for International Cooperation in G Building February 2nd - 3rd, 2017.

This event brought together academics and practitioners from the International Development industry from across Canada and around the world. Delegations attended from Kenya, Tanzania, Honduras, as well as Canada's indigenous community. Many of those in attendance have hosted Humber interns in the past and are excited to do so again in the future.

The event was highlighted by a keynote address from Director General of Development Policy for Global Affairs, Deidre Kent and included a number of fascinating speakers include Nice N Leng'ete whose story of escaping female genital mutilation at the age of 8 brought many attendees to tears.

The event covered a variety of topics aimed at challenging Canadians to do their part to build a better world by engaging with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to help the whole world reach the goal of zero poverty by 2030.

Current International Development post graduates were able to attend this event as volunteers.  At the event these current student were able to network with the wider industry including many alumni of the ID Post Grad program as well as current and former faculty and members of our ID Program Advisory Committee.
