Our partnership with the National Kaohsiung University of Hospitality & Tourism (NKUHT) provides students from Taiwan with the chance to study business practices and gain exposure to the tourism and hospitality industry in Canada.

For the first two years of their program students attend NKUHT, and in their third year they come to Canada to study, returning to NKUHT for their final year. While in Canada, the students begin by taking English classes and then take academic courses related to the program area they were studying in Taiwan. At the end of their classroom studies they complete an internship placement in Canada.

While at Humber the students host a full day cultural event in the concourse that is attended by the Humber community and representatives from the Taipei Economical & Cultural Toronto office. The event showcases many of the traditional elements of Taiwanese culture including: cooking demonstrations, food tasting, intricate dance performances, calligraphy demonstrations, and much more.

Students from the following programs at NKUHT are eligible to participate:

  • Hotel Management
  • Western Culinary Arts
  • Travel Management
  • Food & Beverage Management
  • Leisure Recreation & Tourism Management
  • Airline Transport Service Management
  • Hospitality Marketing & Event Management
  • Applied English

Light Up Taiwan - Taiwanese Cultural Festival

NKUHT Event

On November 16th, students from National Kaohsiung University of Hospitality & Tourism (NKUHT) proudly participated in Humber’s International Education Week Celebration with their Light Up Taiwan Showcase. The event featured traditional Taiwanese dances, complimentary food and other cultural displays, followed by a Humber Room reception for our Taiwanese students, faculty, staff and representatives from the National Kaohsiung University of Hospitality & Tourism.
