Florida IMG Academy
Students thrive in experiential learning opportunities. IMG provides hands-on learning on a daily basis. Students will experience a world-class facility, learning from cutting-edge professionals using state-of-the-art facilities to foster the holistic athlete. In May the students will be able to observe elite performers training (e.g., many NBA, NFL, MLB, WTA, ATP and MLS athletes) as well as learn what it takes to work in/and operate a world class facility.

Dunedin Blue Jays (2 days) - meet with Director/GM of the team, Sales and Promotions, Facility Operations, game day assistance with 2 home games
7 days at IMG Academy
- 7 nights accommodation; 3 meals daily, tipping and local taxes
- 1 IMG athletic full experience (involves vision training, leadership training, workshops, and mental conditioning)
- 4 a la carte programs (i.e., talks from IMG experts in HR, Athletics, Branding, Marketing, Facility Operations, Sponsorship, Leadership, Strength and Conditioning)
- Opportunities for observations/shadowing in various areas (e.g., videography, facility operations, game-day operations, marketing, coaching, strength and conditioning, physiotherapy etc.)
- Use of workout, tennis, soccer, baseball, basketball, football, track and field, and other facilities
- Game day operations/volunteer opportunities (e.g., State Track and Field Championships, Special Olympics Training, etc.)
- Daily debriefing, exercise and team building exercises
- Tours VIP game experience: local baseball fields ex. George Steinbrenner Field (Home of the Tampa Yankees) Bright House Field (home of the Clearwater Threshers)

This Faculty Led Study Tour is open to all full-time, 2nd and 3rd year students in Sport and Recreation Management, students in the Longo Faculty of Business and Kinesiology in the Guelph Humber program, all Fitness and Health promotion students and all Exercise Science and Lifestyle Management students in the Faculty of Health Sciences and Wellness.
2018 Trip Review
"This IMG trip was one of the most unique trip’s that I have ever been on. This trip is not only a great networking opportunity, but it also helped me to enjoy some really special experiences from the start right until the very end. It also helped me to connect with other sport professionals from within the industry and gave me a better insight of their jobs through the shadowing opportunities that were provided. Being a part of this trip helped me to gain a better perspective on high performance or professional sports in general. It also provided me with a breakdown of the different sections of sports and what are the main components that help to run a successful professional organization such as an IMG Academy. Lastly, this trip also helped me to build some special bonds and friendships with other people that were also a part of this trip. I would definitely recommend this trip to anyone who is thinking of going because this is a great opportunity that will help to provide a once-in-a-lifetime experience for students who are looking to build their career and increase their networks in the long run."
