The Faculty of Business offers five special awards in addition to the Humber awards and scholarships. Each award requires the applicant to submit an essay. Criteria for the essay is contained within the description of the awards below. Applications for awards open in October of each year and will close in December of the same year. Only full-time students enrolled in a program within the Faculty of Business are eligible for these awards. Students must meet the minimum criteria of a GPA above 80% cumulative or have demonstrated a significant improvement in their academic studies to be considered for the award.
This award goes to a full-time Faculty of Business Student who is returning to complete their program of study and who has demonstrated an outstanding commitment to their academic studies, the Faculty of Business and the community. Students interested in this award apply in writing by describing their academic achievements to date, their involvement in the Faculty of Business and college activities, and their commitment to community service.
Frank Franklin Achievement Award
Awarded annually to a full-time International Student from the Faculty of Business for outstanding commitment to their academic studies, extracurricular activities and who has shown perseverance in overcoming a barrier or challenge. Frank Franklin, former Director of International Programs who retired in 2005, has supported the achievements of many international Business students. To be eligible for this award students must be carrying a full-time course load and apply in writing describing their commitment to their academic achievements, extracurricular activities and a challenge or barrier that he or she has surpassed.
International Student Achievement Award
This award goes to a full-time International Student from the Faculty of Business who is carrying a full load of courses as per the curriculum schedule, has achieved exceptionally high grades and who has demonstrated a strong commitment to his/her studies. Students interested in this award apply in writing describing their commitment to their academic achievements.
International Student Campus Life Award
This award goes to a full-time International Student from the Faculty of Business who is carrying a full load of courses as per the curriculum schedule and has demonstrated his/her commitment to Humber's campus life through their active participation in activities such as athletics, residence life, peer mentoring, peer tutoring, HSF, ambassador programs, event planning, cultural activities, etc. Students interested in this award apply in writing describing their commitment to their academic achievements and to campus life.
Maggie Trott Business Research Award
This award goes to a full-time Faculty of Business Student who has demonstrated an exceptional aptitude for research, including mastery of research design, qualitative and quantitative data acquisition and analysis, and use of electronic sources. Maggie Trott was an invaluable resource to many business students as a long-time librarian at the Lakeshore Campus. Students interested in this award apply in writing by describing their aptitude and mastery of research design, data acquisition and analysis and their use of electronic sources.
There are a wide range of scholarships and awards available to the Faculty of Business students who have demonstrated academic excellence and/or student leadership in their academic programs and in the community. For those who qualify, Humber also offers a one-time scholarship of $2,500 ($1,250 each semester) - the only one of its kind in Canada.
