Program Overview
Humber’s Fundraising Management graduate certificate program is the only full-time, in-class program of its kind in Ontario, and allows you to live out your passions and participate in creating meaningful, positive change. At the end of this one-year program, you will be prepared to make immediate and dynamic contributions to the world through creative fundraising ideas and initiatives.
Our faculty includes professors that are among Toronto’s most accomplished and awarded non-profit leaders. This faculty will inspire you, share insights from years of fundraising campaign experience and challenge you to produce outstanding work.
This dynamic program is designed to give you practical, hands-on experience in all of the methods used by non-profit organizations to create and maintain relationships with their communities of support. Fundraising students will learn how to co-ordinate and manage diverse groups of donors, volunteers and staff, toward the goal of enabling non-profit organizations to fund their missions.
All courses in this program feature regular appearances by industry leaders and give students the chance to work directly with charities as part of a number of class assignments. Students will also attend two professional conferences to build their professional networks and explore their career options in professional fundraising.
Courses
At Humber, courses are delivered in a variety of formats:
In-Person - An in-person course is delivered fully on campus.
Online Asynchronous (A) - An online asynchronous course has no fixed class schedule and allows students to engage with the course at different times according to their needs. Faculty provide modules, which are completed independently by the students according to established deadlines.
Online Synchronous (S) - An online synchronous course is delivered fully online and requires faculty and students to participate in real-time according to a fixed schedule. Classes are scheduled for a specific day and time.
Hybrid - A hybrid course is a combination of in-person and online classes and follows a set schedule. Students must be available to attend in-person classes at scheduled times during the semester.
The chart below outlines the delivery options available for each course in this program, by campus. For some academic terms, there may be more than one delivery option available. You’ll be able to select your preferred options when building your course schedule during open enrolment. Preferences for course delivery will be considered on a first come, first served basis. Some Humber programs are also delivered fully online, where all courses are delivered online.
International students: the impact of studying from outside of Canada on Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) eligibility differs significantly based on when you start your program. Please review the PGWP eligibility before choosing your program and course delivery.

Work-Integrated Learning
The work placement, which concludes your course of study, takes place in the summer during the program’s final eight weeks. Placements are usually with charities and non-profit groups although it is also allowable to do your work placement with consulting firms, corporate donation offices, foundations or government granting agencies.

Program Features
This reinvigorated program will feature:
- Leading instructors from industry with expertise in annual and major giving, partnering with the corporate sector, the legal and financial realities of the sector, developing teams of staff and volunteers, planned giving, special events, entrepreneurship, ethics and more.
- Professors with experience working at organizations such as Kids Help Phone, UHN (University Health Network) and their associated foundations, War Child, Plan Canada, Pathways to Education, Heart and Stroke Foundation, Canadian Cancer Society, and many charitable sector consulting agencies.
- Networking opportunities with charitable sector leaders and managers through a wide range of guest speakers, case studies and participation in a capstone project where students will work with a “client” organization with instructor guidance.
- Participation and exposure to the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) as well as CFRE (Certified Fundraising Executive) consistent curriculum (approval process is underway for education points for those who pursue future designation).
