Program Overview

Humber’s Business Administration – Accounting advanced diploma program includes studies in accounting theory, procedures and best practices. Detailed instruction is provided in bookkeeping, auditing, taxation, business law, data analytics, information systems, finance and management. You will gain hands-on experience in industry-standard software such as Profile (personal and corporate tax), Access, Excel, PowerBI, SAGE 50 Accounting and Sage 300 ERP (Accpac Plus). You will learn accounting from industry-connected faculty who will provide you with practical, hands-on accounting training to help you get ahead. Our program’s versatile range of courses helps you to also develop broad-based business skills including human resource administration, business writing, macroeconomics and finance.

Outside of the classroom, our students are supported by our full-time dedicated help resources in the Humber Accounting Centre.

Work-Integrated Learning

Students have the opportunity to apply for a co-operative education placement of which there are a limited number of spaces. Students combine this placement with their academic learning in alternating semesters, and there are two placements between academic terms. Participation in the co-operative education placements may increase time to complete the diploma by two semesters. The placement provides students with an opportunity to gain valuable experience. Co-operative education opportunities are not guaranteed, as the job placement opportunities are competitive. Applications to the optional co-operative education program are accepted only from students in Semester 2.

Students not selected for co-operative education placements will complete the standard 84-hour course in their final semester. Through this course, they will put their accounting knowledge and skills into practice. Students find a placement with support from the business placement advisor who maintains a roster of placement opportunities and provides students with direction and assistance in the development of resumés and job search techniques.
