Program Overview

Humber’s Bachelor of Commerce – Digital Business Management program is a business degree with a focus on Information Technology, exploring IT tools and applications to serve business needs and solve business problems. The program provides the essential components of a traditional business degree plus a broad selection of cutting-edge technology and advanced digital business management and marketing tools. It will help prepare you to succeed in a highly competitive business environment. By graduation, your digital business skills will include:

  • analyzing financial issues and how they affect pricing, cost and profit
  • designing and developing websites using the latest technologies to achieve robust online business presence 
  • developing digital business sales and marketing plans (product analysis, pricing strategies, distribution channels, promotional programs)
  • employing project management and change management tools
  • exploring digital tools to improve, optimize and streamline business operations
  • integrating effective and efficient supply chain management operations/tactics/strategies
  • redesigning and streamlining business processes using information and communication technology (ICT)

Courses include accounting, micro/macroeconomics, business law, marketing, information systems, ethics, e-commerce, web development, database systems, supply chain management, mobile development, data science for business analytics and more.

You’ll be able to put classroom learning into practice and get real-world experience by working in multidisciplinary teams on collaborative projects with industry partners, alumni, as well as students from other programs, attending industry events, participating in field trips, conferences, industry workshops, seminars, competitions and learning first-hand from guest speakers and other industry events.

Our program starts with a foundation of business studies in areas such as organizational behaviour, law, economics, finance and accounting, marketing, and operations management in Years 1 and 2. Specialization courses such as web & mobile development, business analytics and strategy will focus on digital business management in Years 3 and 4.

Students have the opportunity to engage in a diverse range of extracurricular activities through the Digital Business Student Association, complementing their in-class learning.

Work-Integrated Learning  

The program requires you to complete 14 weeks/420 hours of a paid in the summer between your sixth and seventh semesters. This gives you the hands-on, real-world experience that employers value. Your field experience will give you the opportunity to explore the field you’d like to work in when you graduate. We will work with employers and our industry partners to help you identify opportunities to pursue.

Digital Business Student Association

The Digital Business Student Association (dBSA) was formed by a group of students at the Longo Faculty of Business who shared a vision of creating an inclusive, student-run organization with the aim of providing all students enrolled in the program with opportunities for extracurricular learning experience.

Degrees That Give You Time To Decide

Longo Faculty of Business offers a variety of Bachelor of Commerce degree programs on a common platform within a variety of specializations. Students have the flexibility to change their specialization within the first two years of study. This gives students the time to decide on their career path while they are gaining insight into the fundamentals of business.

Humber Degree Scholarships

Humber awards degree scholarships automatically to graduating high school students based on academic achievement. See this following chart for details. Some of the scholarships are renewable each year if you maintain an average of 80 per cent or more.

Diploma to Degree Transfer Student Scholarship

Humber awards degree scholarships automatically to students entering any Humber degree program who have completed a two or three-year diploma from a publicly-funded college. Students who have achieved a program GPA of 80% or better will be awarded a one-time scholarship of $2,500 in recognition of their academic achievement at the diploma level. Diplomas do not have to be related to the degree program of choice and are not tied to the eligibility for advanced standing or transfer credit. No application is required. How To Become An Apprentice

Becoming an Apprentice

Find an employer willing to sponsor you as an apprentice.

Admission Requirements

Admission selection is based on the academic criteria indicated. Meeting minimum eligibility requirements does not guarantee admission.

Admission selection is based on the following three requirements:

  • Academic

    To be eligible for admission, you must possess the following:

    • Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent including these required courses:
      • Grade 12 English (ENG4U or equivalent) minimum 65 per cent
      • Grade 12 Mathematics (MDM4U, MCB4U, MGA4U, MCV4U or MHF4U or equivalent) minimum 60 per cent (Students who do not possess Grade 12U Mathematics or who have achieved a grade below 60 per cent may be considered for admission.  Students will be required to complete a math equivalency course during their first semester at Humber.)
      • Four Grade 12 U or M courses in addition to those listed above
      • Overall minimum grade point average (GPA) 65 per cent

    An applicant is considered a mature applicant if they have not completed secondary school or other postsecondary school, and will be 19 or older as of the first day of classes. Humber will invite you for testing to demonstrate that you meet all listed course requirements.

    An applicant is considered a mature applicant if they have not completed secondary school or attended postsecondary studies, and will be 21 or older as of the first day of classes. Mature applicants for degree programs will be required to meet course requirements at the U/M level or equivalent.

  • English Language Proficiency

    All applicants whose first language is not English must meet Humber’s English Language Proficiency Policy.

  • International Credit Evaluation

    Canadian citizens or permanent residents with international education are required to provide a credential evaluation. Note, for international High school education course by course evaluations, ICAS must be used. For international post-secondary education, a WES evaluation must be provided. In situations where you expect to apply for transfer credit, it is recommended that a course by course WES evaluation is completed.

Humber Degree Scholarships

Humber awards degree scholarships automatically to graduating high school students based on academic achievement. See this following chart for details. Some of the scholarships are renewable each year if you maintain an average of 80 per cent or more.

95%+ $4,000 renewable

80 - 84.9% $2,000 renewable
75 - 79.9% $1,500 one time

Degree Transfer Scholarships ($1,500 - $2,500)

Humber automatically awards degree transfer scholarships to students entering any Humber degree program who have completed a one-year Ontario college certificate* or a two- or three-year diploma with a GPA of 80 per cent or more from a publicly-funded college. Students who have achieved a program GPA of 80 per cent or more will be awarded a one-time scholarship of $1,500 for a certificate program or $2,500 for a diploma program in recognition of their academic achievement. Certificates and diplomas do not have to be related to the degree program of choice and are not tied to the eligibility for advanced standing or transfer credit. No application is required
