Bachelor of Commerce – Marketing students visited IPG Mediabrands’ downtown Toronto office for a Student Experience Event. They heard from CEO Shelley Smit, EVP Melissa Jones, and Director Nikki Seaton, who shared the company’s commitment to recruiting emerging talent through its immersive, industry-leading paid training program — The Residency. Each year, the program hires approximately 30 students to gain hands-on experience in all facets of media, from content management and campaign design to media planning.

A panel of Residency graduates, now working as Media Planners and Campaign Managers, spoke about IPG Mediabrands’ dynamic, people-focused culture, described what a typical day looks like, and highlighted the many opportunities for growth within the organization’s extensive network of agencies.

Planning Manager Lucus Date discussed how artificial intelligence is transforming the media landscape. IPG Mediabrands’ proprietary AI assistant, MyBot, supports collaboration, streamlines administrative tasks, and enhances creativity and planning.

The visit concluded with a tour of the office led by Humber Polytechnic alum Laura Lopez, who joined The Residency earlier this year.
