Bachelor of Commerce - Marketing students learned about one of the most critical skills in professional selling from Erika Giuggio. Erika is an experienced Sales Professional, having visited Humber Polytechnic on other occasions to teach students about networking. She is also the Chair of the Bachelor of Commerce - Marketing, Program Advisory Committee.
Erika’s commitment to the success of Humber students was reinforced on her visit to a Sales and Retail Operations class. She spoke about a skill that looks easy on paper, but is difficult in practice: lead generation and prospecting. She showed students several tools to prioritize leads including a mix of LinkedIn, AI, internet searches, referral strategies and more.
In order to apply what they have learned, students will identify leads and prospects for a Pitch Competition organized by Italia360. Italia360 is an incubator that supports young entrepreneurs as they bring new ventures to market. Students will be invited to attend the Pitch Competition and network with many business leaders.
This kind of industry collaboration is at the heart of applied learning. It gives students hands-on experience with the realities of modern sales while providing meaningful support to entrepreneurial ventures doing important work within the community.
