Faculty Member Reappointed to Ontario’s Prevention Council

We are pleased to announce that Rodney C. Cook, a valued faculty member, has been reappointed to Ontario’s Prevention Council. In this influential role, Rodney provides essential advice on preventing occupational injuries and illnesses to the Minister of Labour, Immigration, Training, and Skills Development. As a member of the Council, he collaborates with senior leaders across Ontario to enhance workplace safety and health.

With over twenty years of experience in business transformation in both the private and public sectors, Rodney currently serves as the Vice President of Workplace Health and Safety Services (WHSS) at the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB). He oversees all aspects of workplace health and safety programs. Previously, as Vice President of Human Resources at WSIB, Rodney led the organization to achieve the Mental Health at Work Silver Level Certification from Excellence Canada. His professional accomplishments were further recognized in 2018 when he received the Morley Gunderson Prize from the University of Toronto for outstanding professional achievement and service to the Centre for Industrial Relations and Human Resources.

Within provincial and national occupational health and safety communities, Rodney is an in-demand speaker, leader, and influencer. In addition, after a nomination by the Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development, the Government of Canada especially appointed Rodney to represent Ontario on the tripartite Board of Council of Governors at the Council of the Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety. Rodney also serves on multiple Board of Directors including the National Institute of Disability Management and Research, and Excellence Canada.

He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Concordia University and a Master’s degree in Industrial Relations from the University of Toronto. Rodney also earned the Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP)® designation in 2020.
