Hospitality Student is Nominated for Guest Services Ambassador of the Year

After a two-year hiatus, the 9th annual Greater Toronto Hotel Association (GTHA) Spirit Awards returned to the Metro Toronto Convention Centre on November 18th.

The GTHA welcomed nearly 600 members, sponsors and guests to celebrate the true heroes of the hotel industry. Team members who go above and beyond for Toronto’s hotel guests every day were showcased and honoured at the event.

Among the nominees was second-year Hospitality – Hotel and Restaurant Operations Management student, Erkin Erkan, who was nominated for Guest Services Ambassador of the Year, Alt Hotel Toronto Airport.

In his nomination, it was stated that Erkin brings his passion for people and dedication to excellence each and every day as he welcomes and assists guests at the Alt Hotel Toronto Airport.

Hotel and Restaurant Operations Management students and Hospitality - Event Management students had the exclusive opportunity to showcase their skills at the awards show. From behind-the-scenes preparation, welcoming attendees, overseeing the registration desk, and directing award nominees, to being active on social media throughout the event - the students successfully applied their theoretical and conceptual learning at a live event.
