Humber College is proud to announce that Bob Beauchemin, a long-time faculty member and professor of the Professional Golf Management (PGM) program, has been inducted into the Ontario Golf Hall of Fame. Bob has been an integral part of the PGM program for over 25 years, during which he has taught, coached, and mentored over 1,000 students and golf professionals. He developed the instructional program for PGM students in the Golf Lab and authored the Professional Golf Management Manual for the program.
Bob's passion for golf started at a young age, and he quickly became a champion at the junior, amateur, and collegiate levels before turning professional in 1975. He played on numerous tours worldwide, winning several events, including The 1981 Windsor Charity Classic (Canadian Tour) and the 1984 Vermont State Open. His greatest achievement came when he qualified for the 1981 PGA Tour.
After retiring from professional golf, Bob continued to pursue his love of the game by focusing on the educational side of golf. He conducted clinics, exhibitions, golf schools, exercise programs, sports psychology programs, and individual and group lessons. Bob's expertise in the field led him to write the educational program for the Canadian Tour and the Professional Golf Management textbook for his classes at Humber.
Bob's passion for golf and commitment to education have not gone unnoticed. He has been recognized as one of the Top 50 Canadian Golf Instructors in 2005 by The National Post, honoured as a Life Member in 2007 by the PGA Canadian Tour, and received the Lori Kane Community Leader Award in 2022 from Golf Canada.
As Bob enters his 24th year as the Director of Golf Instruction at the Oakdale Golf and Country Club, he continues to develop and execute numerous teaching programs for juniors, men and women members. With the enthusiastic support of the Oakdale membership, Bob has also conducted several First Tee programs, designed as community outreach programs to help children develop life skills by learning to play golf.
Bob Beauchemin's induction into the Ontario Golf Hall of Fame is a testament to his dedication to the sport of golf and his commitment to education. Humber College congratulates him on this well-deserved honour.
