Fashion Students Organize a Highly Successful Sample Sale

On October 3rd, 2018, Humber's Fashion students launched their very own Pop Up Shop at The Fashion Institute's trendy, high profile, street front location, 3166 Lakeshore Blvd. West. Students welcomed a diverse group of customers attracted to the shop thanks to a eye-catching, student-generated, 440 square foot window display.

Bargain hunters included: faculty, students, employees from local businesses and neighbourhood residents who were excited to finally gain access to the merchandise displayed in the Institute's iconic window displays. Students from all three Fashion programs - Fashion Arts and Business Diploma, Fashion Management Degree, Fashion Management and Promotions Graduate Certificate - worked diligently over a two-day period to prepare the new Pop Up Shop for business. They were involved in every aspect of the store's set-up and Sample Sale, from store planning and visual merchandising, to marketing, sales, and customer service. Students "owned" the launch of their new business concept.

The store's sporty NASCAR-inspired theme was developed by a "Network Nights" winning team of students from a variety of creative programs, who competed for funding to execute a photo shoot based on their creative vision. Their images were so powerful, judges decided to feature them in The Fashion Institute's street front window display and new Pop Up shop.

The new Lakeshore venue provides students with incredible hands-on experiences and numerous opportunities to build their visual portfolios to present to potential employers upon graduation.
