Ramachandran Gomathi, a student in the Tourism – Travel Services Management program, has been awarded the Air Canada Future Leaders Award by the Tourism Industry Association of Canada (TIAC).

This national contest was open to university and college students enrolled in tourism programs across Canada. To be considered, applicants were required to submit a video detailing their choice of tourism as a field of study, along with a 500-word essay addressing key issues related to education, innovation, and sustainability in tourism.

Ramachandran's essay highlighted his experiences as a walking tour guide for a local business in Toronto, where he gained insights into the city’s tourism landscape. He also discussed the value of collaboration between local businesses and educational institutions, which can provide essential opportunities for students to launch their careers in the tourism sector.

Out of numerous entries, Ramachandran's submission was selected as the winner, and he received the award during a ceremony at the Toronto Congress Centre in the fall. The event offered Ramachandran an invaluable opportunity to network with senior professionals from various tourism organizations.

Congratulations to Ramachandran on this prestigious achievement! To connect with him or learn more about his entry into the tourism industry, you can follow him on LinkedIn or Instagram.
