Tourism - Travel Services Management Professor Kevin Smith led a group of enthusiastic tour-guiding students on a captivating field trip to downtown Toronto. The excursion, which took place on December 4th proved to be an enriching experience for both students and faculty.

The highlight of the trip was the visit to the iconic Distillery District, where the annual Christmas market was in full swing. The students, armed with knowledge and skills acquired in the classroom, expertly interpreted the historical significance of the Distillery District. Professor Smith commented on their performance, saying, "Aside from the opportunity to put everything we have learned into practice, it was also a great chance to visit one of the best Christmas markets in the world." The trip not only provided a platform for practical learning but also allowed the students to share intriguing stories, including ghost tales, adding a unique and memorable dimension to the tour.

Professor Smith emphasized the importance of taking students beyond the confines of the classroom, stating, "Taking our students outside of the classroom is critical in preparing students for the world of tour guiding." He believes that practical exposure to real-world scenarios enhances their skills and prepares them for the challenges they will face in their future careers.
