Tourism - Travel Services Management students took to the streets of downtown Toronto to help interpret the city’s key attractions for their presentations.
The students developed and presented guided tours of the most popular destinations including the CN Tower, Kensington Market and the Scotiabank Arena. “It is such a proud moment for me to see the students putting everything they learnt over the semester into practice,” said Kevin Smith, Tourism Faculty member who taught and led the trip. “This is a hands-on exercise that allows students to gain a real-life experience for work in this part of the tourism industry,” he added.
Students were assessed on their ability to bring the attractions to life through engaging storytelling well as their skills in delivery. “What is especially rewarding about teaching this course is seeing students who, at first, were reluctant to get up and speak in front of the class and are now able to deliver confident and professional presentations during the guided tour,” added Smith.
