Sport Management Students Organize Humber World Cup

"Teamwork makes the dream work"

By Rahmon Reid and Justin Bovell, second-year Sport Management students

Second-year Sport Event Management students were assigned to develop, organize, and deliver an event for students, faculty, and community members.

Students worked in event committees that mirrored the sport event industry to deliver the first-ever Humber World Cup in recognition of the 2022 FIFA World Cup, the Canadian National Men’s Soccer Team and uniting the Humber community post-pandemic.

During the tournament’s half-time show, students and attendees were given the opportunity to hear from guest speaker Michael Rossi, Chair of The Terry Fox Foundation, and former President of Adidas Canada. Rossi delivered inspiring life and career advice and tournament proceeds were raised for the Terry Fox Foundation. Students were able to network, learn invaluable skills, and build lasting relationships which they look forward to bringing with them following graduation.

The Sport Event Management students would like to thank the faculty, athletics department, athletes, and guests for attending and making the Humber World Cup a huge success.
