Marketing Students Place First in Safe Roads Competition

Two groups of semester eight Bachelor of Commerce – Marketing degree students competed against Ontario-based colleges and universities and won first place in each competing room at the 2021 Safe Roads Competition.

The Safe Roads Competition is an annual analytics competition for local universities and colleges hosted by SAS Canada, in partnership with Toronto Police Services and Geotab Inc. The competition used TPS and Geotab data overlays to map out fatal traffic accidents and provide the police with recommendations on reducing fatalities across the city.

Sixteen groups from all local colleges entered the finals this year and were divided into two competing rooms. After two-month hard work, Humber teams won for the second year in a row.

Both Humber teams received many acknowledgements in regards to their data analysis skills and research ability.

The teams from the MKTG4005 class included:

  • First Place Winner - Competing Group 1 - Group Pigeon: Meixuan He, Yi-Ting Chung, Van-Anh Le, Sabrina Medeiros and Jordyn Read
  • First Place Winner - Competing Group 2 - Group Nightingale: Chandni Melwani and Irma Ventura Paz

Thank you for the work and dedication of Dr. Na Sui who led the Marketing degree Micro-Credential in Marketing Analytics with SAS and positioned the Longo Faculty of Business amongst the best in Ontario!
