The Longo Faculty of Business hosted an Insurance and Risk Career Fair in partnership with the Insurance Institute of Canada (ICC), Career Connections, and the Insurance Brokers Association of Ontario (IBAO) at Humber's North Campus. The event was held on March 20th and proved to be a huge success, with the Work-Integrated Learning (WIL) team playing a key role in its planning and execution.
The event was spearheaded by Insurance Management Program Co-ordinator, John McNeil, who used his extensive industry contacts to secure the attendance of 44 employers with 113 representatives from the insurance field. While primarily aimed at Insurance Management students, the fair was also open to students from other programs at the college, providing them with an opportunity to explore the possibilities of a career in the lucrative and stable sector of insurance and risk management.
The event was attended by nearly 500 students from different programs, who had the opportunity to interact with representatives from multiple companies to learn more about open positions, the hiring process, and the corporate culture. Students showcased their skills, and many were able to establish vital professional connections with prospective employers who were currently hiring. The event also attracted individuals from other colleges and institutions, including Seneca, Lambton, Independent Brokers, and other local businesses.
The Insurance and Risk Career Fair was beneficial not only to students seeking full, part-time, and work-integrated learning opportunities but also to employers who were looking for skilled and qualified talent to augment their teams. The success of the event underscores the commitment of the Longo Faculty of Business to provide opportunities that bridge the gap between the academic world and the professional one.
