Steve Whitelaw, Vice President and General Manager of Canada at Applied Systems Canada, along with the Applied Systems team, including Kristen Dolson, Senior Director of Marketing and Kelly Bruce, visited the Insurance Management program to commemorate their partnership on March 27th. The event was a resounding success, featuring a plaque unveiling and naming of space in the library, followed by a guest lecture by Steve Whitelaw to Insurance Management students.
Applied Systems is the leading cloud-based software provider to the insurance industry in Canada. Humber College and Applied Systems initiated a successful pilot project in the fall of 2020, where students were taught Applied Systems technology and software, preparing them for their future roles within the industry. The curriculum included training on the EPIC broker management system, the ARS quoting system, and the commercial lines system Policy Works and was developed in collaboration with Applied Systems, Humber faculty, and a broker advisory committee consisting of representatives from top brokerages in Canada and the Insurance Brokers Association of Ontario (IBAO).
Starting in the fall of 2023, students will learn this software as part of a 15-week course called Insurance Technology. Additionally, Applied Systems has partnered with Humber for the new Insurance Broker - Commercial Account Manager program, where students will receive comprehensive training on all Applied Systems software, including EPIC, Applied Rating Systems, and Policy Works.
The Longo Faculty of Business and the Insurance Management program express deep gratitude for the generous support provided by Applied Systems over the years. The partnership has been instrumental in equipping students with the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in the insurance industry.
A special thank you was extended to Steve Whitelaw, Kristen Dolson, James Ramsay, Kelly Bruce and Cheryl LeBlanc of Applied Systems for their hard work and dedication to this exciting initiative, which has positively impacted the education and professional development of Insurance Management students.
