The collaborative event between the Human Resources Management graduate certificate program and the Human Resources Professionals Association (HRPA) West Toronto Region was a resounding success.

Students gained valuable insights into the often-overlooked challenges of HR in Canada, particularly the use of temporary employment agencies and issues of workplace misconduct.

The students also examined the growing legal and social implications of workplace bullying and harassment through social media, gaining important insights into the role of law enforcement and the potential legal liabilities organizations face in today's virtual and hybrid work environments.

In an engaging session, Labour Lawyer John Hyde, joined by undercover detective Richard Shaw from Peel Region, led a thought-provoking discussion. The session focused on the hidden challenges and legal liabilities present in the workplace, encouraging students to think critically about these often-overlooked issues. The interactive format not only sparked meaningful discussions but also provided students with valuable networking opportunities with HR professionals.

This event is part of an ongoing effort to strengthen industry-academic partnerships, offering students more enriching learning experiences. Stay tuned for future opportunities.
