In the HTOM 5000: Principles of Tourism and Hospitality course, led by Professor Anke Föller-Carroll, students are equipped with essential skills for successful careers in Canada's travel and tourism sector, particularly within the vibrant Toronto market. Understanding the nuances of selling travel and managing guests is critical for early career advancement, and students engaged in a practical component to hone these abilities.

A highlight of the course was a session led by Karin Zabunyan, a seasoned travel industry professional with thirty-five years of experience, representing Art of Travel by TPI. She provided invaluable insights into the industry’s inner workings, outlined the key qualifications that make candidates appealing to employers, and offered tips on effective networking—delivered with an engaging sense of humour.

To further enrich the learning experience, Alex Sein, a Longo Faculty of Business alumnus and experienced tour guide in Toronto, took students on a walking tour of the city. During the tour, he revealed hidden gems and shared his expertise in managing guest experiences, emphasizing the importance of catering to individual visitors' needs.

This combination of classroom learning and real-world application prepares students for success in the dynamic field of tourism.
