Akshat Chawla, a graduate of the Hospitality and Tourism Operations Management program, exemplifies the entrepreneurial spirit fostered by his education. Building on his foundation from Longo Faculty of Business, Akshat has navigated the competitive Toronto food and beverage scene to become the co-owner of Carnival Restaurant, located in the vibrant Junction neighborhood.
Back in New Delhi, Akshat successfully owned and operated his own authentic Indian restaurant for two years. Now, in Toronto, he brings a contemporary twist to traditional Indian cuisine at Carnival, blending honoured flavours with modern culinary techniques to capture the diverse tastes of the city’s food lovers.
Akshat’s path to success has been both rewarding and demanding. With long hours and significant challenges—ranging from adapting to Canadian regulations, navigating complex landlord agreements, and managing construction projects to overseeing recruitment, training, and finances.
His success is a testament to Hospitality and Tourism Operations Management program's impact in equipping students for real-world challenges in the hospitality industry.
