First-year Hospitality – Hotel and Restaurant Operations Management students embarked on an immersive overnight learning experience in downtown Toronto, designed to showcase the essence of hospitality and strengthen industry connections.
The journey began with an insightful property visit to The Yorkville Royal Sonesta Hotel, where students were welcomed by a team of passionate professionals who exemplified the heart of hospitality. From detailed presentations to culinary touches and networking opportunities, the experience offered a behind-the-scenes look at hotel operations and service excellence. A special thank you to Humber graduates holding management positions at this hotel, including Howie Ngo, Paula Carcamo, Emmett Brett, and Athif Yousuf, as well as Caley Finlin for their generosity and commitment to inspiring future hospitality leaders.
The learning continued with an overnight stay at the Courtyard by Marriott Toronto Downtown, where students experienced hospitality at its finest. From a seamless check-in to inspiring presentations and the powerful thursday morning “Stand Up,” every detail reflected care, leadership, and operational excellence. The overnight stay and breakfast were more than a gesture—they were a gift of learning and connection. Students left motivated and with a deeper understanding of what success in this industry requires. Heartfelt thanks to Murray Kelsey and the entire Courtyard team for creating an unforgettable experience that will stay with our students for years to come.
Experiential learning opportunities like these not only enrich classroom knowledge but also strengthen Humber’s partnerships with leading hospitality brands. These collaborations ensure our students graduate with the skills, insights, and connections to thrive as the next generation of hospitality professionals.
