Industry Luminary Imparts Wisdom to Hospitality Management Students

On May 23rd Christiane Germain, Co-President and Co-Founder of Germain Hôtels, as well as an Honorary Degree Recipient from Humber College, made a memorable visit to North Campus to share her passion for hospitality excellence. Christiane's journey, which began as a student in the Hospitality Management program, has since propelled her toward a successful career in hotel entrepreneurial leadership.

During her visit, Christiane took a campus tour, showcasing the expansion, growth, and development of Humber's state-of-the-art facilities. Subsequently, she presented to fourth-semester Hospitality – Hotel and Restaurant Operations Management students, enrolled in the International and Sustainable Tourism course taught by Dr. Ryan Snider. Christiane shared her career trajectory which encompassed ventures throughout Canada and the United States, ultimately culminating in the establishment of Germain Hôtels, with its inaugural hotel located in Quebec City. Reflecting on the challenges posed by the pandemic, Christiane revealed her determination by personally visiting each of the eighteen Germain Hotels across Canada, offering support and guidance. When inquisitive students sought insights into the industry's current outlook and Germain Hôtels' future prospects, Christiane discussed the tourism sector's robust rebound, her company's planned expansion, including the imminent opening of a new hotel in Calgary, and the need for enthusiastic graduates keen to grow within the Germain Hôtels family.

The day concluded on a high note, as the second-semester Hospitality - Hotel and Restaurant Operations students, under the guidance of Senior Dean Alvina Cassiani and Program Co-ordinator Kristy Adams, served a delightful lunch in The Humber Room.

Humber anticipates the continuation of its cherished partnership with Christiane and her esteemed team at Germain Hôtels, fostering invaluable opportunities for growth, collaboration, and knowledge exchange.
