Hoteliers Take it to the Next Level as Humber Launches the GTHA/Humber Hotel Management Leadership Program

Humber College and the Greater Toronto Hotel Association are training the next generation of hospitality industry leaders.

Twenty-four hotel employees from across the GTA were ready to learn on Saturday, as they were at Humber College to participate in the first course of the Hotel Management Leadership Program.

The 14-week program, in partnership with the Greater Toronto Hotel Association (GTHA), trains management-level employees to become senior leaders in the hotel industry. Program Coordinator of Hospitality Management Kristy Adams, was on hand to teach the first module of the program: Communications and Presentation Skills.

“The program kicked off with Kristy truly 'hitting it out of the park',” said Ramesh Srinivasan,  Coordinator of our Hospitality & Tourism degree and postgraduate certificate “She did an amazing job with the first module and had the participants in total concentration for the duration of the day. We made a great first impression and the participants left with some new concepts learned,” he adds.

Participants in the program will be able to work full-time while developing essential leadership skills to move into senior management positions. They will receive training in advanced hotel management, including communication and presentation skills, marketing, accounting, and hotel technology. The program was developed to mark the 90th anniversary of the GTHA, which was founded in 1925.

A $90,000 award was given to Humber from the GTHA in support of the program.
