HLOs:
Over the past four months, two groups of fourth-semester students from the Hospitality - Hotel and Restaurant Operations Management diploma program engaged in solving real-world case problems during their capstone course, HOTL 285: Hospitality Business Planning. Guided by Professor Anke Foller-Carroll and supported by Program Co-ordinator Kristy Adams and several previous instructors, the students worked in a competitive setting to devise practical solutions for industry challenges.
Sodexo Canada tasked one group with streamlining traffic flow at the Loblaw Headquarters cafeteria in Brampton, while Vince Enright, co-founder of Eclipse Comfort Solutions, challenged the other group to create a succession plan and growth strategy for an independent pub owner. Drawing on their comprehensive knowledge from the entire program, academic and industry research, and personal work experience, the students delivered innovative solutions.
The students' efforts were further enriched by visits to Loblaw headquarters, insights from an experienced pub owner, and guest speakers from alumni. This hands-on experience proved invaluable, providing insights and skills that surpass traditional classroom learning.
The students' dedication and creativity were commendable, and we are proud of their accomplishments and the relationships built throughout the process.
Congratulations to the winning teams:
