Castell@College Connects Students to Hospitality Leaders

The Hospitality - Hotel & Restaurant Operations Management program partnered with Castell Project, a non-profit organization with a mission and focus on advancing women in the hospitality industry, and hosted Castell@College, a virtual event.

Castell@College featured a female panellist of executives sharing experiences about their careers and lives to encourage students to realize their full potential. The virtual event connected students to seasoned executives and helped inspire them to succeed in the many facets of the hospitality industry.

The panellists included:

  • Amy King, VP Luxury, Lifestyle & Corporate Development, Hilton Hotels
  • Sophia Lin Kanno, Regional Creative Director, PRA Business Events
  • Esther Yi, Lecturer of Hospitality, Kennesaw State University, Former Account Manager, Expedia and Hospitality Professional
  • Genna Panagopoulos, Director of Business Development, IHG

Each panellist spoke candidly about their experiences, work-life balance, opportunities and obstacles.

The benefits of attending the Castell@College event for students included:

  • An introduction to new career paths that may have not been considered prior to the event
  • Meeting with prospective employers in a setting which was different and more virtually intimate
  • Networking and building relationships with panellists through participation and asking questions via chat, open mic and video
  • Gaining industry insights and advice on the importance of working together, giving back and getting comfortable with current industry demands and expectations
