Asli Nur, a graduate from the Bachelor of Commerce – Healthcare Management program, class of ’22, is set to begin the PhD program in Urban Health at Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) in fall 2025.

Asli is also the recipient of TMU’s competitive Bridging Divides Future Leaders Fellowship, which is awarded to students pursuing equity-focused research. She is the first Bachelor of Commerce Healthcare Management graduate to move on to a PhD program.

Asli charted her own unique path to doctoral studies. After completing Healthcare Management, she pursued a Master of Public Health in Black Health at the University of Toronto, where she became deeply involved in public health research and advocacy. Her work has focused on addressing health disparities, improving food security, and supporting community-driven initiatives across the Greater Toronto Area.

Healthcare Management Program Coordinator Pierre-Pascal Gendron and Professor Gavin Wardle were delighted to welcome Asli back as a panellist in the Healthcare Management Alumni Panel last March and wish her great success in her PhD program.
