Humber Polytechnic is celebrating the achievements of two Fundraising Management alumni who earned the Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE) designation — the globally recognized credential that signifies the highest standards of ethical and effective fundraising practice.

Driven by a lifelong commitment to improving lives through education and healthcare, Yatasha found her calling in fundraising because of its power to create meaningful impact. She credits Humber’s Fundraising Management program with giving her the practical knowledge and confidence to advance in her career.

“Pursuing my CFRE was the next key milestone, and both my experience in major giving and my Humber training helped me excel,” she shares. As a major gift fundraiser, Yatasha is focused on continuing to drive positive change in the communities she serves.

For Berna, the Humber program sparked what she describes as a “true butterfly effect,” leading her to discover a passion for Planned (Legacy) Giving. The program helped her translate her experience from profit‑oriented sectors into the nonprofit world, where she applies a results‑driven approach to create lasting impact.

“Pursuing CFRE and MFA‑P reflects my commitment to excellence in practice and my pride in representing Humber College in the nonprofit sector,” she says.

Both graduates leveraged their Humber graduate certificate to meet the education requirements for CFRE eligibility, complementing their professional experience and the rigorous certification exam. Their accomplishments highlight the strength of Humber’s applied learning model and the continued growing influence of Humber‑trained fundraisers across the sector. Although the program is currently on hold, they and many alumni continue to lead in the profession of fundraising and nonprofit sector management. Their success is a testament to the dedication, skill, and leadership emerging from the program and a proud moment for the Humber community as these alumni continue shaping the future of philanthropy.
