Finance Alumni Offer Career Guidance to Students

The Humber Finance Society (HFS) organized an alumni panel event for Bachelor of Commerce – Finance degree students on January 23rd.
Despite the weather, a robust turnout of forty-five students gathered to gain insights from six accomplished graduates of the Finance degree program. The alumni, representing companies such as Edward Jones, Vanguard, Manulife, TMX Group, Harbor, and TD Bank, shared valuable career experiences and offered advice on navigating the job search process. Notably, two alumni pursued their Master of Business Administration, while three were in the process of completing their Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) exams.
The alumni emphasized the importance of demonstrating initiative, enthusiasm, and reliability to potential employers. Students were encouraged to view their career trajectory as a marathon rather than a sprint, urging them to consider their long-term goals and establish a foundation of skills, experiences, and credentials that align with those aspirations.
The event left students inspired and equipped with a deeper understanding of the key elements for success in a finance career.
