One of the largest and most well-known trade show events in Ontario is the Thredz Show. This year, the biannual event was held at the Toronto Congress Centre from September 10th to 12th, and Fashion Management students were given complimentary access to attend.

Over 60 companies and brands converged to unveil their latest fall 2024 collections to potential buyers and retailers. Notable sales agencies including DK Company, Frank Lyman Montreal, Kim Crawford Agency, and Pink Martini were spotted at the show with their vibrant fall '24 collections, each with a unique brand image and story. The spectrum of offerings ranged from clothing to accessories, including footwear and jewelry.

The ambiance buzzed with an array of Canadian and international fashion professionals and brands, setting the stage for an immersive dive into the realm of new collections. Beyond the presentation of merchandise, the event served as a canvas for students to observe the dynamics of wholesale transactions and emerging trends. Witnessing negotiations between buyers and sellers firsthand was a cornerstone experience for one of the students and facilitated valuable insights into industry dynamics.

Networking was rife among the fashion students, who seized every opportunity to establish meaningful connections within the industry. Sales representatives at the booths engaged with students about their collections and provided unique industry perspectives. One student attendee expressed how the event notably improved her communication abilities and bolstered her confidence - skills she actively applied during the event.

The resounding success of the trade show echoed in the form of insights into real-life industry experiences, accompanied by valuable contacts. Witnessing the sparks of inspiration igniting within the minds of student attendees added an exciting dimension to the event's vibrancy.

Once again, Humber College underscored its commitment to academic excellence by providing industry contacts and offering students the experiential learning they deserve through numerous prestigious events like Thredz.
