Students in the BUS 1500: Business Information Systems course welcomed tourism expert Alex Sein for an engaging session focused on the role of storytelling in podcasting. The visit was part of a collaborative project between two courses:

As part of the project, Digital Business Management students will produce podcasts for clients enrolled in the Hospitality and Tourism Operations Management program.

Trends in Tourism

With support from AI tools, these collaborative podcasts will explore five current tourism trends. The final episodes will be hosted on the faculty's dedicated podcast platform, DigiPod.ca.

The featured themes include:

  • Nostalgia Tourism
  • Culinary Tourism
  • Concert and Music Tourism
  • Sports Tourism (Spectator Sports)
  • Winter Tourism

Key Takeaways for an Effective Podcast

During his guest lecture, Alex shared key strategies for producing compelling podcasts:

  • Start with a Story – The best podcasts connect through compelling, relatable narratives.
  •  End with a Call to Action – Every episode should leave listeners with something to think about or act on.
  • Make Every Moment Count – Engaging content keeps audiences invested from start to finish.

Alex’s industry insights into AI, storytelling, and tourism will serve as a valuable resource as students develop their podcast projects aimed at exploring emerging trends and sharing them with wider audiences.

Thank you to Alex Sein for his time and expertise in supporting the next generation of hospitality and tourism professionals.
