HLOs:
Students in the BUS 2504 Web Development course hosted a captivating end-of-semester showcase, inviting the Humber community to explore their final projects in an engaging gallery format spread across two days on April 9th and 11th.
The innovative showcase marked the culmination of a dynamic collaboration between two courses within the Longo Faculty of Business: Baking and Pastry Arts Management students in the BAKE 253 Bakery Management and Entrepreneurship course, led by Chef Alastair Gray and Digital Business Management and Fashion Management students in the BUS 2504 Web Development course, instructed by Professor Hanadi Alnawab.
Under Chef Gray's guidance, BAKE 253 students created business plans for opening bakeshop/café establishments in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), complete with menus and signature items primed for sale at local Farmers' Markets and potentially the renowned Canadian National Exhibition (CNE).
Meanwhile, BUS 2504 students leveraged their digital expertise to bolster the bakers’ online presence by using WordPress and AI technologies to develop content and multimedia assets for the bakers’ websites.
During the showcase, attendees were treated to an array of booths featuring the work of the Digital Business team’s media agency alongside their clients' business concepts and signature items. Each booth showcased a website and promotional materials aimed at supporting the bakers’ application to the CNE.
The event provided a platform for students to engage with external guests and the broader Humber community, fostering dialogue around the challenges encountered in utilizing AI tools and the valuable lessons learned from collaborating with their clients.
The showcase culminated in a delightful experience for all involved, with attendees enjoying samples of baked goods representing the bakers’ signature items. As the semester draws to a close, anticipation builds for future collaborative endeavours with Chef Gray and his students in the upcoming Winter term.
