Gourmet Express is set to introduce a new product, "Matcha Bites," thanks to the innovative efforts of Business - Marketing students. As part of their senior-level course scaffolding project in the Capstone Course, Strategic Marketing (MKTG 255), students compete in groups to present a new food product that meets the needs of Humber students and employees to a panel of judges - including Gourmet Express Executive, Nichole Bryan.
The panel of judges for the presentations included David Bartolini, Strategic Marketing Professor, Nichole Bryan, Director of Operations & Resource Management at Humber College, and Steven Lorini, Business - Marketing Program Co-ordinator.
The marketing teams were required to explain trends to support their ideas and products, design packaging and pricing, and create a minimum of four integrated marketing communication components.
The student groups showcased a range of unique product ideas, including the South Asian Spice Wrap, Corn Bean Bowl, Vegan Plant-Based Chicken Alfredo, Well-Pita, Green Vegan Macaroni Salad, and the winning product, Matcha Bites. In addition to having their product sold at Gourmet Express, the Matcha Bites team also received a $100 voucher to dine at The Humber Room.
The introduction of Matcha Bites to Gourmet Express is a testament to the innovative and creative talents of the students in the program. Congratulations to all the students who participated in this competition, and we look forward to seeing what other exciting ideas they will bring to the table in the future.
