The Humber Data Analytics Club is a student-led initiative dedicated to equipping Humber students and alumni with industry-relevant knowledge in data analytics. Through networking events, workshops, and hands-on projects, the club fosters professional development and collaboration.

Mission and Vision

The club’s mission is to empower Humber students and alumni through education, networking, and collaboration in data analytics. Its vision is to cultivate a dynamic learning community that enhances industry readiness and career growth in analytics.

History and Evolution

In today’s data-driven world, technical skills alone are not enough - students also need industry exposure, networking opportunities, and hands-on experience. The Humber Data Analytics Club was founded to bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world application, providing students with a structured environment to develop analytical expertise, engage with industry professionals, and build meaningful connections.

The idea emerged in December 2023, when students recognized a critical gap in practical analytics training. Many were eager to learn Power BI (Business Intelligence) and other analytics tools but lacked formal opportunities. This led to an informal session led by Lissandro Maciel, which gained immediate traction. By January 2024, the demand was overwhelming, prompting Humber’s International Graduate School (IGS) to approve a formal Power BI training session, which quickly filled 46 seats with 23 more students waitlisted.

Recognizing the continued need for structured skill development, the Humber Data Analytics Club officially launched in April 2024, expanding beyond Power BI to cover a broader range of analytics topics and career-building initiatives.

As the founding members approached graduation, leadership transitioned in October 2024, ensuring continuity and future growth. Under new leadership, the club has solidified its role in Humber’s analytics community, offering students a platform for career advancement.

Leadership Structure

The club is driven by a dedicated team of Business Insights and Analytics (BIA) students, ensuring its sustained growth and impact:

  • President: Rameesha Nayab
  • Vice President of Member & Relations: Soham Sharangpani
  • Vice President of External Relations: Chakshu Madan
  • Vice President of Events & Operations: Ryan Thomas Joseph
  • Vice President of Marketing & Outreach: Harsees Kaur

Impact and Future Outlook

Since its launch, the Humber Data Analytics Club has made a significant impact, attracting over 200 attendees at its first networking event. The club continues to expand its reach, offering specialized training sessions, industry partnerships, and career development opportunities.

With a strong leadership team and an engaged student community, the Humber Data Analytics Club serves as a bridge between education and industry, equipping students with practical skills, valuable connections, and real-world analytics experience.
