Human Resources Management Students Drive Organizational Change and Improve Effectiveness
HLOs:
In their final semester, students in HRM 4505: Organization Development within the Bachelor of Commerce – Human Resources Management program gained hands-on experience consulting with leaders and employees of various organizations. They designed and implemented organizational development interventions aimed at improving effectiveness and presented their initiatives to leaders in the organizations where they work. Many of their initiatives received approval for implementation including:
-
Gaming Industry: A company-wide change program in an award-winning gaming company to promote collaboration and learning across all regions, fostering engagement and cross-regional support.
-
Wellness Clinic: A culture change initiative in a successful wellness clinic aimed at improving communication and reinforcing core vision and values, supporting the organization’s growth and development.
-
Events Industry: Addressing organization-level issues in a well-established events company undergoing continuous restructuring due to strategic acquisitions. The change program focused on improving onboarding and training processes to reduce turnover and increase employee motivation.
Under the guidance of Professor Isabelle Giroux, Ph.D., and through high student engagement, these students were able to "Bring It" and successfully apply their learning to real business challenges, offering practical and effective change solutions.
