Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) graduate, Harangad Singh, achieved a significant milestone on June 27th, as he was officially appointed as a Barrister and Solicitor by the Law Society of Ontario.
Following his studies at Humber, Harangad attended Ryerson University in 2022 and was extended an articling opportunity at a Family Law firm in Mississauga, which eventually led to a full-time position as an associate. In his current role, he actively engages in meaningful dialogue, negotiations, and mediation on a regular basis.
Harangad attributes his success to the guidance of the ADR Program Co-ordinator and Professor Mary Lee. He expressed gratitude towards her mentorship noting, "Her guidance and kindness were big factors in my professional and personal growth. I learned a lot from her during the ADR program which gave me an opportunity to be one of the first student mediators at the Small Claims Court at Brampton. This experience proved to be extremely helpful in my current role."
Expressing his heartfelt appreciation for Mary's belief in him, Harangad highlighted her significant influence in shaping his career trajectory and hopes that she can take pride in being one of the reasons why he, along with numerous other students, remembers her and values her efforts.
Mary Lee possesses over twenty-five years of teaching experience within the ADR program at Humber and continues to inspire students while achieving excellence in her teaching career. Her research report, "Digital Transformation of Ontario’s Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Sector," represents a significant collaboration with the Alternative Dispute Resolution Institute of Ontario (ADRIO), establishing Humber's ADR program as the first and only Canadian program engaged in collaborative research with the ADR Institute of Ontario. Her exceptional contributions have been recognized by Humber’s Office of Research & Innovation, designating her as a Faculty Rockstar in 2022.
