These experiences allowed students to build valuable career-readiness skills, develop personal and professional insights, and earn Work-Integrated Learning (WIL) hours or full credits toward one LFB course.

In addition, 16 more students from various diploma and degree programs travelled to Humber Polytechnic’s international partners, earning elective credits.

Throughout their journeys, students connected their experiences to the Humber Learning Outcomes (HLOs) they have been cultivating during their studies. Here are a few reflections shared in their own words:

Justin Balan, Healthcare Management, VIA University College (on Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging), in answering the question: What did you learn about your studies and future career while being abroad?

“As a healthcare management student, the ability to adjust and create policies that will suit the majority of the population and consider diversity.”

Lourdes Velasco, Culinary Management, Dania Academy Summer School (on Sustainability):

“I learned how sustainability is applied in real-world marketing contexts and gained a broader perspective on global business practices, which will help me make more informed decisions in my future career.”

Nurana Karimova, Business Marketing Diploma, Cologne Business School Summer School (on Critical Thinking, Communication, and Collaboration):

“The most rewarding part was meeting people from all over the world and hearing their perspectives. The debates, discussions, and group projects gave me the chance to learn from them, challenge my own ideas, and see issues from angles I hadn’t considered before.”

Connie Ho, Spa Management, Florence University of the Arts Experiential Learning Course (on Professionalism):

“Working at the spa was really rewarding—it was enjoyable and so informative. Even though the hours were short, it made me want to savour every moment I was there and do my part to help make the spa even better. I learned to find real confidence in myself and realized that I can turn any situation around.”
