Fashion Students Bring Style to Tourism

Second-semester students from the Tourism- Travel Services Management diploma program received professional styling tips in their Careers course from Fashion Management students.

Under the guidance and mentoring of Program Coordinator Rossie Kadiyska, fashion students from both the Fashion Management graduate certificate program and the Fashion Arts and Business diploma  program shared their expertise on "Dressing for Success". Students Leona Zhu, Heti Singh, Katie Pittini and Valeria Cano provided tips and techniques on attire for upcoming career fairs, interviews (both in-person and virtually), and when entering the workforce in the tourism industry.

Through an engaging PowerPoint presentation, the fashion students shared a variety of appropriate wardrobe looks, discussed why personal grooming is the key to a polished professional look and elaborated on what students should pay attention to. The fashion students also offered styling tips to personalize an outfit in order to suit one's unique look and shared some shopping tricks on curating a new work wardrobe on a budget.

The tourism students were also introduced to the fashion program's Instagram accounts @humberboutique and @humberfashionpostgrad to access more styling tips and ask questions.

The feedback was extremely positive and serves as an example of the significant potential across programs to collaborate and share their expertise.
