Program Overview
Humber’s Sport Management advanced diploma program prepares you to manage the business of sport.
You will develop a thorough knowledge of the structure and functionality of the Canadian sport industry including specific responsibilities and governance structure of organizations, rules and regulations governing sport, coaching standards, tournament hosting and scheduling, and sport sponsorship development. You will also learn the practical, organizational, business, human resources and administrative skills needed to pursue a career in the industry.
Courses are designed with industry collaboration, ensuring the program is current and relevant. You will learn from full-time professors, managers and directors of sport organizations. Classes are diverse and include guest speakers from organizations such as Maple Leafs Sports & Entertainment, Tennis Canada, Ontario Basketball and various games organizing committees. The program also includes field trips and practical training.

Work-Integrated Learning
Our program includes two in Semesters 5 and 6. Field experiences occur across industry sectors including professional sport associations, community and amateur sport governing bodies, and private sector sport organizations. These field experiences provide valuable practical and professional skills and industry contacts.

Go Abroad
5th Semester Abroad
Students are involved in volunteer projects based on their areas of interest and participate in unique local activities and excursions in places like Finland.
Summer Abroad
In intensive 3-week summer school programs, students will study subject areas like tourism, international business and more in places like Finland.
Placement Abroad
Students have the opportunity to complete program work placements in Canada or abroad. Students may also be eligible to receive a bursary from Humber.
Faculty Led Study Tours
On the IMG Academy trip, students trained in a world-class athletic facility and learned from industry-experienced professionals in Florida.
Study Abroad
Qualified students in this program may apply to participate in an experiential learning trip.
Qualified students may also apply to a study abroad learning opportunity. Previous study abroad opportunities have included trips to Finland, Nunavut and Nicaragua.
These trips vary each year and are subject to availability and eligibility requirements. Additional fees apply.
Your Career
Our graduates can gain positions with a variety of sport institutions such as amateur or professional sports teams and organizations, community sport and recreation agencies, sport governing bodies, sport event management organizations, intercollegiate athletics, private facilities, and within the sporting goods industry.

Professional Accreditations & Recognition
Certification Opportunities
Qualified students have the opportunity to earn the following certifications as part of the program:
- Respect in Sport Certification
- National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP)
- Multi-sport Competition Introduction module(s)
- Automated External Defibrillator (AED) / CPR
