Humber's Project Management Ontario College Graduate Certificate program prepares you to manage complex projects and programs. Given the recognition that project management skills and competencies are indispensible to the success of all organizations, this program attracts candidates from diverse backgrounds and industries.

In just two semesters, you will learn the skills needed to move a project through conceptualization, initiation, planning, execution, control and closing. You will thoroughly explore the key stages of the project life cycle, project economics and financial analysis, risk and stakeholder management, and professional best practices through a comprehensive project delivery model. You will also learn the importance of people, processes and business/strategic alignment to project success. You will also learn about the adaptive/agile approach to product management and the various frameworks that fall under this umbrella. Trends in project management including cutting-edge technology and courses in areas such as information technology, construction and data analytics are also covered. This program culminates in an experiential learning opportunity or capstone, where you have the opportunity to examine a real-world project with an external industry sponsor and provide recommendations on how the project design, planning, implementation and outcomes could be improved. This program has several employer and networking opportunities designed to increase learners' opportunities for employment upon graduation.

The Project Management Institute (PMI) states that despite disruption and uncertainty, project professionals continue to have strong opportunities to advance their careers. According to PMI’s most recent Talent Gap report (2023), 2.3 million people will be needed each year to fill all of the project management oriented positions expected to open by 2030. To remain competitive, companies will need to focus on hiring problem solvers and relationship builders who can help them drive change and deliver strategic value. And that will sustain demand for project leaders — especially those with the power skills that can help organizations navigate turbulent times. Knowing where opportunities are most likely to bubble up will empower project professionals to find career opportunities. 

Across nearly all sectors, communication is the most important skill to possess, according to project professionals surveyed in the PMI Pulse of the Profession^® 2023 report. Overall, 68 per cent of respondents said it was the most critical skill — followed by problem-solving (65 per cent), collaborative leadership (62 per cent) and strategic thinking (58 per cent). Mastering such skills along with core technical abilities will make project professionals more valuable — and could make them less vulnerable in cases where the job market declines. In some sectors, hiring might slow even if project activity stays robust.
