Accounting Students Take First Place in Worldwide Business Strategy Game

Professional Accounting Practice graduate certificate program graduates Juan Bravo-Estrada, Yek Raj Shahi, and Amish Gupta placed first in a worldwide Business Strategy Game competition. Under the team name Infiniti BSG, the three graduates took first place within their strategic industry.

The Business Strategy Game helps students gain valuable practice in making a variety of business decisions under circumstances that mirror real-world competitive conditions. The online exercise divided class members into teams and assigned the task of running an athletic footwear company in head-to-head competition against companies managed by other class members. Company operations parallel those of actual athletic footwear companies. Just as in the real-world, companies compete in a global market arena, selling branded and private-label athletic footwear in four geographic regions — Europe-Africa, North America, Asia-Pacific, and Latin America. All aspects of The Business Strategy Game parallel the functioning of the real-world athletic footwear market.

Infiniti BSG participated with twelve other teams from across the globe in making business decisions over a 20-year fiscal period. The strategic endeavor occurred over two weeks and required the application of strict rules and constant performance monitoring of their business along with daily decision making. Infiniti BSG performed an in-depth analysis of their organization and it's competitor's data on a daily basis in order to appropriately predict their future moves.

Initially placing fifth in the competition, the team was able to apply the knowledge acquired throughout their program to carefully study the data and help them win first place.

Congratulations to Infiniti BSG for all of their hard work!
