Humber Polytechnic, in collaboration with the Federal Government of Canada, sponsored the Ontario Council for International Cooperation (OCIC) Symposium, titled Positioning for the Future: The Future of International Development in Ontario.

Held on January 30 and 31 at Humber’s Lakeshore Campus, the event brought together representatives from over 40 Ontario-based small and medium-sized organizations (SMOs) to discuss critical issues shaping the future of the international development sector.

Key topics included funding challenges, gender equity, and the role of civic space in fostering sustainable development. International Development students played a pivotal role in the symposium, leading discussions and serving as note-takers to ensure that key insights and learnings were captured for the sector.

Industry leaders praised the students for their professionalism and contributions, with many offering support for their upcoming work placements.

The event not only highlighted the importance of collaboration in addressing global development challenges but also showcased the talent and dedication of Humber’s next generation of international development professionals.
