Melissa Hornby completed classes in the International Development graduate certificate program of June of 2019 and very nearly after boarded a plane for halfway around the world.
Melissa secured an 18-month long contract working for UK based NGO, SEED, in Madagascar. Her position entails working in education, sanitation, and environmental projects in Fort Dauphin, on the South Eastern tip of the island of Madagascar. In her current position, Melissa is liaising with government ministries, developing project proposals, and securing a partnership with UNICEF for a rural community-led sanitation project.
Although experiencing a steep learning curve in her position, she was keen to point out that the International Development graduate program prepared students well for the workplace.
