Humber Degree Students Compete Successfully at the International Career Development Conference   


From April 19-22nd, Humber degree students from the Humber DECA-U chapter attended the International Career Development Conference (ICDC) in Anaheim, California. The Humber DECA-U chapter was led by co-presidents Max Beacock and Noel D'souza. There, the chapter competed in several competitions and were awarded three medals for their efforts. The students in attendance came from a diverse academic background and represented Humber degree programs such as AccountingInternational BusinessCreative AdvertisingMarketing and Public Relations

ICDC 2017 Results 

At ICDC, Accounting student, Laura Ingram, did very well, earning both the top test score and top 10 finalist placement in the Retail Management category. Sergiy Fomin and Maria Plazas also did very well, placing in third place in the International Marketing category.

Past Competitions 

This past year, the Humber DECA chapter has competed quite successfully in several competitions, such as the Ryerson University Invitational, the Carleton University Invitational, the McMaster University Invitational and the DECA-U Provincial Competition.

About the ICDC 

The ICDC is the culmination of the DECA year. DECA members from all over the world congregate in one location to showcase their career knowledge and skills by participating in various competitions that test their abilities in areas such as finance, business management, marketing, entrepreneurship and more.

DECA-U 

DECA-U is the collegiate branch of the DECA organization, which is an international program with the goal of training and developing professional business skills in its members.

DECA-U’s members represent their post-secondary institutions while participating at DECA competitions and interacting with industry professionals at networking events. At these various organized events, students gain integral leadership, management and presentation skills that help them in their future careers.

DECA-U is committed to training its members for success in their chosen field by offering them experiential learning activities, as well as opportunities to interact with industry professionals.
