ORIMS Hosts Informative Risk Management Day

The Insurance Management – Property and Casualty (P&C) program welcomed the Ontario Insurance Risk Management Society (ORIMS) on November 15th for a comprehensive Risk Management Day, offering valuable insights to students.

The event proved highly successful, affording students a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in the world of risk management. The day included interactive sessions where students gained firsthand experience and guidance from risk management professionals and thought leaders.

Among the notable professionals present were:

  • Marnai Cimolai, ORIMS Board Member and representative from Manulife

  • Fatima Chamali, ORIMS Board Member and Primaris REIT
  • Mathew Magus from MBC Group and Young Insurance Professionals Toronto

ORIMS not only provided mentorship through an interactive risk management case study but also facilitated lunch for the attendees. Additionally, professional headshots for students' LinkedIn profiles were arranged, offering a valuable asset.

ORIMS stands as the largest chapter of the RIMS (Risk Insurance Management Society), a globally recognized organization spanning North America and Japan. Established in 1960, ORIMS boasts a membership comprising over 360 corporate and 290 Associate members within the risk management industry. The society has actively engaged in college programs, conducting informative webinars covering topics such as cyber risk, hosting speed mentoring events, and offering various student placement opportunities.

ORIMS also extended complimentary membership to Insurance Management students for both ORIMS and the RIMS society.
