Hospitality - Event Management alumna Kennishia Duffus recently landed a full-time role as the Event Manager at The Ontario Business Improvement Area Association (OBIAA).
The OBIAA is a network representing and supporting Business Improvement Areas (BIAs) across Ontario. One of Kennishia's key areas of responsibility involves leadership of all logistics and planning for the Annual BIA Conference. This includes vetting and managing speakers, nurturing existing partner relationships, securing new sponsors, and researching new event platforms to hold all sessions virtually.
Kennishia noted that her education at Humber has helped her understand the full concept behind managing large magnitude events, separate event objectives from tactical work, become comfortable with the Requests for Proposals (RFPs) process, understand sponsorships, and manage a full conference from start to finish. She is grateful for what she has learned and feels that her Humber education has positioned her for success in the event industry.
